Rouzer Names Chief of Staff 

Wilmington, NC – Congressman-elect David Rouzer, who will be representing North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District during the 114th Congress, has named Melissa Murphy to serve as his chief of staff.  Mrs. Murphy currently serves as the deputy chief of staff and legislative director to Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina and has nearly a decade of experience on Capitol Hill.

“I am excited to have Melissa as part of our team.  She will provide exceptional leadership and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the North Carolina Delegation that will serve the coastal communities, this district, and the state very well,”  said Rouzer. 

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve the people of North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District. I look forward to working with David to help him and his team best represent the interests and priorities of families in Eastern North Carolina,”said Murphy.

A native of Greenwood, South Carolina, Mrs. Murphy received her Bachelor of Arts in Government from Wofford College and her Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina.  In her role with Wilson’s office, she helped secure legislative language in the Water Resources Reform and Development Act for the Port of Charleston’s dredging project.  Further, Murphy advised Wilson on all legislative areas with expertise on appropriations, healthcare, labor, education, tax and tourism issues.  She also oversaw all policy initiatives associated with Mr. Wilson’s chairmanship of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel.
