FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Congressman-elect Rouzer named Chairman of Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee

Congressman-elect David Rouzer (NC-07) was selected to serve as the Chairman of the Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee for the 114th Congress by Agriculture Committee Chairman-elect Mike Conaway (TX-11).

The Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee has jurisdiction over policies, statutes, and markets relating to all livestock, poultry, dairy, and seafood.  It also oversees the inspection, marketing, and promotion of such commodities and products like aquaculture, animal welfare, grazing, foreign agricultural assistance, and trade promotion.

"I'm truly humbled to be granted this opportunity right out of the gate.  The livestock, meat, dairy and seafood industries are vital to North Carolina's economy, the future of American agriculture, and are critical to maintaining an abundant, nutritious, and safe food supply," said Rouzer.

"Congressman-elect Rouzer has a strong background in agriculture,” Chairman-elect Conaway said.  “His experience as an Administrator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and general knowledge of agriculture will be an asset to the House Committee on Agriculture.  Even though this is his first term in Congress, I have a great deal of confidence in him, which is why I selected him to lead the Subcommittee on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture.”

Congressman-elect Rouzer will also serve on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
